FULANI UMBRELLA BODY BLAMES CLASHES BETWEEN FARMERS AND HERDSMEN ON CATTLE RUSTLING


The National Secretary of The Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, Alhaji Sale Bayari has blamed the clashes between Herdsmen and farmers to the incessant cases of cattle rustling.

Mr Bayari today in Jalingo Adamawa state, called on the Inspector General of Police Mr Mohammed Abubakar to establish an Anti-Cattle Rustling unit to check the lingering cases of cattle theft today in the country.

He told newsmen that the Miyetti Allah has suffered for 12 years in the hands of cattle rustlers who invade their villages and convert their herds for personal use.

Mr Bayari also added that for the Fulani, cattle is not only a sacred gift from God but a source of their livelihood and a generational and ancestral wealth, he says the Fulani see those who tamper with their cattle as tampering with their generation yet unborn.

He said the association was in support of measures against law offenders’ whether they were herdsmen or not and they have stated that anyone who violates the law whether Fulani or a farmer, should be dealth with, however the the police should live up to their responsibility and curb cattle rustling.
