NNPC CLAIMS IT IS BEING WRONGLY PORTRAYED TO THE PUBLIC.

By Amadin Uyi, 28th Feb 2014

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation NNPC has claimed there are attempts to portray the corporation in bad light.

The Acting Group General Manager Public Affairs of the NNPC Dr. Omar Ibrahim via a Press Release said the presentation by the Nigerian Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative NEITI, at a joint public hearing in the House of Representatives is being misrepresented to the public.

Mr Ibrahim said the representation made by NEITI at the probe hearing of the Berne Declaration Report has been taken out of context by Media organizations.

He said that claims by the press that about 22.8 billion dollars, which is almost 4 trillion naira oil revenue has been discovered to be unremitted are all false.

Mr Ibrahim said that NEITI has been wrongly reported as evidenced by a copy of the NEITI report and presentation, in the hands of the corporation and calls on Nigerians to disregard these claims.
